Izu Grampal Park is a fun place to visit with many rides and attractions during the day, and hosts lighting shows during the night. I will share with you my experience in visiting this place during the night in June 2022.
About Izu Grampal Park
During the day this Park is best enjoyed by families with children. There are many rides and attractions that are suitable for kids and not so many for adults. On the other hand, during the night this park turns in to a neon light paradise with a mood that is suitable for kids, couples and adults alike.
Location and Access
As the name suggests, Izu Grampal Park is in “Izu”, an area in Shizuoka Prefecture, around 2-3 hour drive from Tokyo. Driving is recommended, but if you are taking public transport use the Tokaido Shinkansen/Tokaido Mainline. Head to Atami Station and follow on to Ito station on the Ito line. From Ito station there are buses available direct to “Izu Granpak Park bus stop”.
If you headed by car, there is parking available on site. Parking is quite big with 1,000 vehicle capacity. Parking fee during the day is 500 yen for the day, while parking is free if you enter during the night entrance time.
For the General guide on the Izu area itself, check out my separate post below.

Experience at night
The Park is quite big and there are plenty to see while walking around the crazy illumination. When I visited in June the area did not get dark until at least 19:00. The Illumination definitely kicks in better when the sun sets completely.
The Park itself is quite big, it will take around 2-3 hours to walk around, take photos, watch the light shows and take on some rides. You can walk right along the grand illumination platform even as the light show is going on which was pretty interesting.
The mood is perfect for couples ending their day in Izu. There is even a Love Shrine in the park that is actually blessed by a proper Shinto priest.
Izu Grampal Park is under the same management as Izu Shaboten Zoo. Not sure if it is because of this but there is a small cottage in the middle of the park with some monkeys that you can feed through the display.
I will definitely recommend anyone visiting the Izu area to spend a few hours at night within Izu Grampal Park!
